The symbols and displays on machines with comparable activities are sometimes fundamentally different.
However, in view of the shortage of skilled workers, few machine operators today operate several different machine types from different manufacturers. A standardization of essential operating elements based on ISO 7000 would be beneficial for users.
The aim is to develop standards for the structures, processes and symbols for operating mobile machinery. For this purpose, the structures, processes and symbols are examined on the basis of three widely used machine types (rollers, wheel loaders, road pavers) and the greatest possible uniformity of recognition and operation on an almost uniform display is developed.
In the area of attachments, users and machine manufacturers have jointly developed new and essential symbols for operating the respective machine.
